What does a diffuser do to straight hair

What does a diffuser do to straight hair?

You might be asking, what does a diffuser do to straight hair? While mainly used by curly hairs, it can also be used by those who have natural and wavy hair.

A diffuser can be used on your hair either to make your hair thicker, or to help protect it from the heat of a hairdryer. It can give you some really nice wave & volume for summer time style.

Diffusers are attachments that can be fitted to the end of a hair dryer. Diffusers have one or more rows of small, soft plastic spikes or fins on their surface which break up airflow and generate a turbulent effect.

This helps you add volume & create a frizz-free look with minimal effort.

What is a hair diffuser?

If you’re not sure what the HAIR DRYER DIFFUSER is, don’t feel bad – a lot of people are in the same boat!

A hair diffuser is a tool with a bowl-like shape that is inserted into a blow dryer. The prongs on the attachment are meant to cradle hair while it’s drying

If you didn’t get a diffuser with your hair dryer, it’s sold separately and there’s a wide variety of them available. Once you get one, you can find the perfect one for your type of hair and preferred style.

What does a hair diffuser do?

We all know blow-drying takes time, so this attachment can help you dry your hair without pulling it straight. It also stops you from creating frizzy ends, so the result is shiny & natural-looking

Essentially, the diffuser’s bowl lets your hair dry while giving each section space to move and curl.

The air circulates around wet hair to mimic the properties of air drying. This leaves hair with a better definition and creates curls with volume.

Hair will feel softer & hair that’s been straightened or has been already dried will retain more volume after the process.

In order to use your hair diffuser, follow these steps:

Step 1: Detangle and dry your hair

You can use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair after taking a shower. Scrunch out excess water with a microfiber towel and don’t use a terry cloth towel as this will increase the chances of frizzing up your hair.

Damp strands will make the process take longer. Removing excess moisture can help it go a lot faster.

Step 2: Add product, if desired

Apply a leave-in conditioner or curl cream throughout your hair.

Step 4: Diffuse hair in sections

Place a small section of hair into the diffuser bowl and then bring the dryer closer to your head, making sure all of the hair is within the bowl.

Step 5: Alternate sections

Insert the diffuser in the area of your hair you want to dry. Hold it for 30 seconds before moving on to another section of hair, then continue until you have finished drying all over.

If your hair is too long, you may need to use hair clips to hold the layers out of the way so that you can work on brushing under them.

You should avoid rotating the dryer while you have your hair in the bowl. This will prevent major tangles and knots from occurring.

Step 6: Final scrunch

Once your hair is dry, rub some finishing products in. If you want volume, use any volumizing spray or mousse. If you want curls, comb through with a wide-toothed comb. Scrunch your hair one last time!

What is a hair diffuser good for: Tips for all hair types

If you’re using a hair dryer with a diffuser, you’ll see the best results if you have naturally wavy or curly hair. However, it’s still possible to achieve a voluminous, wavy look if you have straight hair.

Here are some tips on using a diffuser on every type of hair.

Natural hair

  • You know your hair and its natural curl pattern best, so try to stay faithful to the products that work for you.
  • To keep your hair healthy, it may be a good idea to set it in twists or braids before you diffuse.

Curly hair

  • Try a hair product that controls frizz and keeps your natural curls in place.
  • You’ll get looser waves or curls if you leave your hair a little damp.

Wavy hair

  • Make sure to apply beach or wave spray before you diffuse and be diligent.
  • To avoid frizz, try not to move the hair diffuser side to side while you’re drying your hair.

Straight hair

We’ve discussed my question: “What does a diffuser do to straight hair?”

If you own a hair diffuser but haven’t used it in a while, this is your chance.

Diffusing is a simple process that takes just a little practice and can revitalize your hair and provide you with years of carefree, healthy hair.
